History
The first mentions of metallurgical production in our area date back to the 13th century, when German colonists built mining settlements, which also included iron processing and blacksmithing. In the village of Prakovce, the so-called iron forges were first mentioned in 1586.
The official year of founding the ironworks in Prakovce is 1760, since when iron processing has continued continuously to this day. A significant milestone was 1921, when AJAX spring hammers were first produced. In 1937-1938, relatively large facilities were built – an annealing shop, a steel plant, a forge and a tin shop. A great continuous development of the plant occurred after World War II, when the plant was attached to the company Spojené ocelárny Kladno. In 1947, the plant was transferred to the company ČKD Kriváň with its registered office in Bratislava. During this period, the predominantly metallurgical production began to focus heavily on mechanical engineering. In 1949, the plant was attached to the company VSS Košice. In 1950-1958, the plant operated as the independent company Strojáreň Prakovce. In 1959, it was attached to the ZTS Martin group of companies, and in 1968, a new forge was built, in the premises of which we currently operate.
The company TREVA, s. r. o. was founded on 1 September 2010.
